Jason Scott Hensley


Mr. Jason Scott Hensley, 32, of Hurricane passed away January 22, 2009, in CAMC Memorial Hospital.


Jason was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Bears. Jason gave his life to the Lord in 2006.


Even in his death, others will be able to have life through Jason's gift of organ and tissue donation.


He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Larry Cook; and stepbrother, Mark Cook.


He is survived by his mother, Stephanie Cook of Hurricane; second mom, Jody Hensley of South Charleston; father and stepmother, Bruce and Gloria Hensley of Hurricane; son, Brandon Hensley of Milton; grandparents, Mae and Charles Downey of St. Albans; aunts and uncles, Carol and Bernie Young of Hurricane, Melanie and Larry Faulkner of St. Albans and Leslie and John Carnell of Hurricane; stepsister, Stacey Wilcox of St. Albans; stepbrothers, Mike Cook of Nitro, Jonathan Hensley of Hurricane and David Burgess of St. Albans; brothers, Austin Hensley of South Charleston and Teddy Hensley of Hurricane; and sister, Alexandria Hensley of Hurricane; cousins Alex Carnell of Hurricane; Todd, Sean, and Marty Young of Hurricane, and Lynn Kennedy of Hurricane.


A tribute to the life of Jason will be held at noon Monday, January 26, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park.


The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the CAMC Foundation, P.O. Box 1547, Charleston, WV 25326 or Roark-Sullivan Men's Shelter, 313 ½ D St., South Charleston, WV 25303.
Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Poca, is serving the Hensley family.
